Seriosity setting out to redefine work
Seriosity recently came out of stealth mode.
Seriosity’s mission is to change the nature of work by creating a new category of enterprise software inspired by concepts and technology from successful multi-player games.
We are focused on improving the productivity of information workers in the high value activities of teamwork, collaboration, innovation and leadership — functions that have not been touched by traditional enterprise applications.
With an impressive team assembled we are following with interest their progress.
Seriosity has a commitment to understanding how the enterprise can benefit from the success of multiplayer games. Our research efforts, which began in 2002, produced a comprehensive thesis about gaming’s implications for the future of work. We studied game psychology, game design, and its potential to influence serious work. And most importantly, we played the games, guided by a Seriosity team of business and game design experts, some of whom have collectively spent thousands of hours achieving the top ranks in a broad range of game titles and who are internationally recognized as leaders of successful online guilds.
They are currently beta testing their first product Carbon.
Carbon (Beta) is an enterprise productivity application, inspired by successful interactive games. It creates an economic system with its own currency and market that allows users to better manage their attention and that of others. Even more than time management, attention management is critical for collaboration, innovation and leadership. Attention is a vital company resource that is abused as an unintended consequence of the low cost of electronic communications such as email.
Organisations interested in participating during the beta phase should make contact.
