FT / Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year 2006

The second annual FT / Goldman Sachs book award was presented in NY last night.

The FT and Goldman Sachs award is presented annually to the book that has provided “the most compelling and enjoyable insight into modern business issues”.

China Shakes the World was named Business Book of the Year 2006.

Author James Kynge has chroniciled China’s economic growth over the last 20 years.

He compares China’s emergence to US economic growth of the 19th century.

James was chosen from a shortlist of four other authors for the award.

The other finalists were: The Long Tail, Chris Anderson’s look at the economics of the internet; Bo Burlingham’s Small Giants about US companies that decide to be great instead of big; The Wal-Mart Effect by Charles Fishman, an analysis of the world’s biggest retailer; and The Box, an investigation by Marc Levinson of the container’s impact on world trade.
